To enable seniors to live safely in their homes with the following success measures:
A "Handyman" service has operated since March 1996 using the principle "seniors helping seniors". Safety checks have been performed and minor maintenance has been done, some mentoring of larger projects by a contractor has also been done. Clean up, yard work and painting has been done and in some cases a youth has been used as a helper with the permission of the senior customer. A Dow Centennial Grant has been received to assist continuing the program through 1997.
We are participating in the Sarnia Safe Communities project developed to reduce injuries resulting from falls in seniors 65 and over.
