What can be done to prevent rabies?
- Make sure your pets are vaccinated in consultation with your veterinarian.
- Don't let your pets run free in the neighbourhood and keep them indoors at night
- Stay away from dogs and cats you don't know or that act strangely
- Stay away from wild animals
Did you know?
- The last death from rabies in Ontario occurred in 1967
- 382 dogs and cats were reported to the Community Health Services for biting in 2007 and 29 of them were not vaccinated against rabies.
- 40 people required rabies vaccinations in Sarnia-Lambton in 2007.
