What can be done to prevent rabies?


2009 Statistics  

  • 1 bat tested positive for rabies
  • 341 animal bite investigations were conducted
  • 25 people received post-exposure rabies vaccine
  • 66 compulsory rabies vaccination letters were issued to pet owners involved in biting incidents
  • 17 rabies vaccine vouchers were issued to owners enabling their animals to receive low-cost rabies vaccine  

2008 Statistics  

  • 1 bat tested positive for rabies
  • 340 animal bite investigations were conducted
  • 19 people received post-exposure rabies vaccine
  • 48 compulsory rabies vaccination letters were issued to pet owners involved in biting incidents
  • 7 rabies vaccine vouchers were issued to owners enabling their animals to receive low-cost rabies vaccine  

2007 Statistics  

  • 2 bats tested positive for rabies
  • 382 animal bite investigations were conducted
  • 40 people received post-exposure rabies vaccine
  • 29 compulsory rabies vaccination letters were issued to pet owners involved in biting incidents
  • 2 rabies vaccine vouchers were issued to owners enabling their animals to receive low-cost rabies vaccine

  • 2 bats tested positive for rabies
  • 350 animal bite investigations were conducted
  • 40 people received post-exposure rabies vaccine
  • 33 compulsory rabies vaccination letters were issued to pet owners involved in biting incidents
  • 8 rabies vaccine vouchers were issued to owners enabling their animals to receive low-cost rabies vaccine

What Can be done to prevent rabies?

  • Make sure pets are vaccinated in consultation with our veterinarian.
  • Don't let pets run free in the neighborhood and keep them indoors at night
  • Stay away from dogs and cats you don't know or that act strangely
  • Stay away from wild animals
