Introduction
The
workplace is a natural place to provide health education: it is
convenient, there is a potential for co-workers’ support and more and
more, employees see it as a benefit that shows their company’s concern
for them. Canadians are
increasingly health conscious and are aware of the effects of their
lifestyle on their health. At
the same time, companies are under extreme pressure to control the
skyrocketing costs of employee health care.
Companies interested in increasing the job satisfaction, morale and
productivity of employees view health promotion programs as a means to
accomplish these goals.
This
booklet in PDF format can provide you with general information with
respect to risk factors related to reproductive health in the workplace.
It will highlight the impact of the type and hours of work,
established chemical, physical and biological hazards.
It will also provide sample workplace policy recommendations that
have demonstrated a positive impact on reproductive outcomes.
Overall, the “Healthy Pregnancies…at Work” program is
designed to help promote and protect the health of pregnant workers.
