Fact Sheets
Dear Teachers and Parents:
Because of the demand for information about food allergies, particularly in the school
setting, the Community Health Services has put together an information package called
"Food Allergy Facts". The kit contains fact sheets on the following topics:
These fact sheets were developed by a team of registered dietitians, public health nurses,
public health inspectors and health promotion professionals and contain the most current
information available.
The Food Allergy Facts package is also available on the internet at the Community Health
Services Web Site: www.lambtonhealth.on.ca
and may be viewed and downloaded as a html file (see above) or as a
PDF file (dated July,
2002, 15 pages and
824 KB).
Adobe Acrobat reader is
needed to view pdf files.
The Health Unit Web Site also posts consumer Food Safety Alerts for food products that
have been recalled because of food allergens that have not been declared on the product
label. Please feel free to photocopy and distribute these fact sheets - either
individually or as a package - for distribution to teachers, parents and other caregivers.
For more information on food allergies and anaphylaxis, contact the Community Health
Services at 519-383-8331 or toll-free at 1-800-667-1839.
