The County of Lambton, Lambton Public Health is required by the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care to conduct a Food Safety Program which involves the inspection and monitoring of all food premises in the County.

The goal of this program is to improve the health of the population by reducing the incidence of food-borne illness. This is accomplished by conducting inspections of all food premises to ensure compliance with Ontario Regulation 562 (Food Premises) under the Health Protection and Promotion Act (HPPA), R.S.O. 1990. Failure of an establishment to comply with the Food Premises Regulation is subject to legal prosecution.
