Human exposure to contaminants and pathogens can occur through several pathways, mainly
inhalation, ingestion, and absorption. Maintaining our surroundings in a manner which
prevents or reduces such exposure minimizes human health risks and enhances our overall
quality of life.
By targeting environmental health hazards for investigation and by providing emergency
related information and expertise the Health Unit is working to prevent or reduce adverse
health outcomes resulting from exposure to health hazards.
The topics listed here have shown themselves to be areas of public concern. For further
details, or if you have questions about other environmental health issues, do not hesitate
to contact your local public health inspector.
