May 31st 2006 the entire province of Ontario became 100% smoke free in all enclosed public places and workplaces. The Smoke Free Ontario Act will protect the health of Ontarians by reducing their exposure to the harmful effects of second hand smoke, toughening the laws against selling tobacco to minors and restricting the display of tobacco products.

Even with the establishment of the Smoke Free Ontario Act, the Corporation of Lambton County 100% Smoke Free By-Law remains in effect with the more restrictive laws taking precedence.
Those witnessing smoking in an enclosed or prohibited area, the illegal sale of tobacco to minors, as well as other complaints can report the incident to the Tobacco Hotline at 519-383-3810. Callers’ identities are confidential and the information provided will not be disclosed to the public
Individuals, employers, or establishments who fail to comply with the Smoke Free Ontario Act may be subject to legal prosecution.
