What is Prenatal Education?Prenatal education is ideal for those having babies for the first time or for those who have had previous experience with birth and would like a refresher. Knowing what to expect during the pregnancy, specific health issues, labour and delivery, and how to manage once the baby is born are all part of prenatal education. Your instructor is a specially trained registered nurse who will provide up-to-date information to help you make decisions with your doctor or midwife and build your confidence as a new parent. Where are the Classes Held?Classes are offered at the Community Health Services Department, 160 Exmouth Street, at the corner of Exmouth and Front streets in Point Edward. Call 519 383-8331 for more information. When Should I Register?Register online once you know you are going to have a baby! Your registration will hold your spot in class. A description of the classes is below. Week 2 - Oh No It's Time!
Week 3 - Baby's Here - Now What?
Week 4 - Transition to Parenting Topics include, challenges in the first few months, support from family & friends, parenting styles, conflict management, postpartum adjustment, etc. Week 5 - Breastfeeding A Public Health Nurse/Lactation
Consultant teaches you about the benefits of breastfeeding, how to
breastfeed, avoiding difficulties and getting help.
When Will My Classes Start?
