Course Description

The Food Handler Certification Program is designed to teach food handlers the general principles of safe food handling. This course will provide the food handler with the basic knowledge to identify risk factors associated with food borne illness and the skills necessary to handle food in a manner that will prevent illness from occurring.

The course is based on the principles of sanitary food service and hazard analysis critical control point (HACCP) procedures.

* Grand Bend Location: The Food Handler Certification course on May 12, 2014 will be held at 5 Main Street, Grand Bend (Gables). This course will only be offered once at this location. 

Course Location:  Lambton Public Health, 160 Exmouth Street, Point Edward. Cost of the course is $40.00. Certification is valid for five (5) years from date of issue.

Certification/Recertification

Participants who achieve a minimum of 70% on the food handler's exam will receive a Community Health Services Food Handler Certificate. This certificate meets mandatory food safety training requirements and is recognized by health units in Ontario.

Certification is valid for five (5) years from date of issue.
